"Aly and the Pups"
"Feeding Time"
"Nap Time"
Alyeska was born on November 15, 1993 at Eumbark Kennels near Molalla, Oregon. She is the daughter of Taja Nikki Kazan and Kheta's Snow Queen. Hunter was born on November 2, 1992. He is the son of Des-Mar's Cordova and Kossok's Teacher's Pet. This was Aly's first litter and not everything went as smoothly as we would have liked. On the 20th of March we did an ultra sound to make sure that all was well. Aly is average size for a female but ya never know how big the puppies might be. Aly went into labor on April 1st. After a long night, things did not seem to be going to well. A quick exam told us that a puppy was stuck in the pelvis region. We made a emergency visit to the vet for a immediate c-section. Within minutes, everyone was fine and we had 5 beautiful puppies. Aly is doing just fine although we made the decision to spay her. We did not want her to go through this kind of ordeal again. I made a quick scan of a few polaroid photos for everyone to see. Its not the best but it's better than nothing.
As with all life, death is a part of it. Four days after birth we lost one of the puppies. We don't know why these things happen, but they do. The others however are doing great. We have temporary names to help us identify each pup. "Dot" is a black and white male with a small white dot in the middle of his back. "Sam" is the only female and she is also black and white. "Brownie" is a red and white male with a solid red tail. "Tipper" is a red and white male with a white tip on his tail. They are all growing like crazy. In two weeks their weight has tripled. Their eyes are just beginning to open and "Sam" and "Dot" look like they will have blue eyes. "Brownie and Tipper" have not opened theirs yet. Here are some updated photos.
"Sam gets help with her bath from mom."
"Brownie gets dinner."
"Tipper latches onto Michaels finger."
"A group portrait of mom and her pups."
"A group portrait and everyone is eating."
"Dot is destined to be a pointer."
"Sam eats and eats and eats......."
